Here is the political spectrum. Where are you?
|1---------2----------3----------4----------5----------6---------7|
1. Communist 2. Liberal 3. Democrat 4. Moderate 5. Republican 6. Conservative 7. Fascist
Democrats and Republicans are usually included in Liberals and Conservatives, respectively, however to add more room for choice for those who aren't "all the way there" I put them in.
Those on the right support Conservative Socialism or no socialism at all, while those on the left support either a form of Reactionary Socialism (usually True Socialism), or Critical-Utopian Socialism (namely, Communism). Those in the middle should f**k themselves.
Tim, if you respond, you are conservative, mainly becuase you are prolife and all that bullshit.
DO NOT CHOOSE NO DECISION UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!!!
Edit: I chose Liberal becuase I am in between Democrat and Liberal, but closer to Liberal.

The picture in my sig was not meant to ellict discussion of tanks. If you know anything (or if your World History teacher was any good), you would know that that is a real picture from the massacre at Tien a Men square.
Post deleted for being off topic, and thread moved to Science/Philosphy board.
Also: if you don't have anything to add to this topic, do not do waht Paul did.

mmhm, i am conservative 90%...ish
you all know that.
and newkirk is a good teacher because he teaches you things that are good to know and his class doesn't feel liek... well it's a lot more fun than english.
however, he has a lot of facts wrong. i can only tell you stuff about what i know, such as his views on modern weaponry. i don't know how correct he was with stuff about rwanda, but i bet he was right about most of it because it looks like he actually did his research on that.

Tim, how do you know he is wrong? And if he is, he probably doesn't research how we kill people...

I have a feeling he was right about a lot of the historical stuff, like WWI and the Rwandan Genocide, but he's not too well educated on modern-warfare.
Stuff like him saying that we definitely don't have stealth helecopters? OK, we have two helecopters that are dedicated to reconnaissance.. not to mention that the Apache can be used as a stealth helecopter simply because it is nimble, small, and, well, a helecopter.

Helocopters can be heard from a mile off? And no helocopter is small?
No one is well educated on modern warfare except those people with access to classified military files.

It just doesnt make sense to deny that we are very good at killing people. We are, and im not proud of that, but if any country f**ks with us, they will pay. Iraq wasnt f**king with us. Yeah, saddam was a bad guy, but so is the royal family of saudi arabia. You know why we're not at war with saudi arabia? because they give us oil. I think it would be really rich if bush or cheney or one of those rich white guys went on one of their little daytrips to iraq and got their ass blown off by a rocket. Maybe then they wouldnt be so fast to say, bring it on, then send braver men to kill and die. Im a communist. I realize that communism cannot actually be achieved in our little universe, and if you attempt to force it on people you end up with very bad situations. But as an ideal, it's a good thing to work towards.
P.S. Paul, stop being an ass. Your karma is now down.

Actually Chris, Communism will work in only one country in the world today. Japan. In Japan, no one is supposed to be an individual. You are supposed to work for the betterment of the society as a whole. They have the necessary mentality that society is supposed to be taught in the socialist phase. There would be no need for reeducation.
And yah, we are the best at killing people.

Well, that's japanese idealism, which i dissagree with. I love the fact that in the american millitary, humans are not expendable. In WWII there were missions in which the casualty figures were calculated beforehand, and the soldiers resigned themselves to the fact that some of them werent coming home, but if a soldier was starnded or captured behind enemy lines, the millitary would send a rescue mission, no matter how dangerous. Look at Scott F. O'Grady. He went down, and they rescued him. In brittian and other countries, they'll calculate whether a rescue would cost more lives than it would save, and if it does, they don't do one. In America, soldiersaren't expendable, and they will awalys go after one. That being said, Japanese idealism is somewhat hive-mindish, and individuals are infinitely expendable. They got they're asses kicked in the war, and now they don't have an army. That's part of their constitution. Now, the majority of japanese may have this mindset, but you can't possibly generalize this over the entire population. I see your logic that communism can't be forced, and if a society like japan is total hive-minded than communism might be able to happen, but it's impossible to say that everyone will feel the same way. I trust that your familiar with the rule of the consent of the governed. If japan attempted to convert to communism in the manner you suggested, it might be able to exist for a short period of time, but eventualy there will be an uprising from a faction that dissagrees with the forced kind of communism. If they were too few in numbers, and were supressed, it would either already be, or soon convert to totalitarionism, or facism. As we've seen in the past, the japanese are all to happy to blindly side with facist forces, so i wouldn't want to see where that goes.

Hiveminded! That is the word I was looking for...
There is a Japanese proverb something along the lines of: "The nail that sticks out from the rest is hammered back in". When someone acts as an individual, they are forced to submit to the way of the whole by their peers, and possibly the government I'm not sure. This means that anyone who is an individual would have to keep their opinions to themselves becuase groups would have a hard time forming. Besides, if you want individualism, why would you form a group?
You are right though, a communism has not been started there becuase it probably wouldn't work. Besides, if it worked at home the rest of the world might be unhappy, but they would have to shove it becuase Japan is such a large contributor to the world's economy.

Japan is already pretty close to communism in some respects. There is an extremely low crime rate, and they dont' even have such a good police force. The reason there is very low crime is because they convinced the whole society (or at least 99% of them) to follow the Honor System. They dont' steal things because it's dishonorable.
If they tried to force communism on Japan, it probably wouldn't work. There would be that 1% who would stand up. And that 1 would turn to 10, and the 10 to 50. It just can't work.
The only way Communism would work would be in a voluntary system. There are already small societies in middle America where it is Communist and it works because all of the people want it.
Also, any attack helecopter is stealth already. The tactics that the Apache units use make it so that they don't hear them until it is too late, and they are dead before they can report the helecopters can call back
